Just a few short years ago, North Port was a smaller community with only 18,000 residents and 1 grocery store. Today, North Port has more than 62,000 residents, and continues to grow every day. North Port is also one of the largest land areas in Florida, encompassing more than 103 square miles.
The City has exploded with growth, but we’re only 30% developed, meaning that you’ll still see plenty of nature and undeveloped land. What makes the city of North Port so attractive that many want to call it home? Relative affordability. As Sarasota became very expensive during the boom years, younger families, as well as retirees, found North Port as an affordable alternative where they could buy a newer, larger home, for far less money. Nearly 3/4 of our homes were built in the years of 2004-2006. As Sarasota continues to escalate in price, North Port offers an affordable alternative, while remaining in close commuting distance to Sarasota. There are great shopping opportunities, new businesses, and a new technical school and library being built. . Planners estimate that the community could have as many as 250,000 residents by 2050.
